Atwood House, St. George
Sleeps 6 in 2 bedrooms and 1 livingroom; 2 1/2 bathrooms
NOTE: Kitchen is still under construction and should be in place by end of March.
Atwood House is a newly-constructed house located on Patten Point Road in Saint George. Overlooking Whitehead Island and the open ocean, this spectacular house sits just 40 feet from the water's edge.
Atwood owns a little over a half acre and offers 100 feet of private waterfront.
A beautiful wooded and private lot, Atwood House boasts 2 decks, both overlooking the water, and a private wharf (12' x 75') perfect for fishing and swimming from. You could certainly tie up a boat at high tide.
The house has gorgeous details from bow to stern hardwood floors, a multitude of windows offering views from almost everywhere in the house, and a waterfront location that is hard to beat.
Classically-styled, the house looks like it belongs on the coast of Maine but has the modern amenities we all expect. Internet is available, along with satellite television in each bedroom and the living room. Washer/dryer and modern kitchen appliances make this house a perfect melding of traditional and up-to-date. Feel away from it all without actually sacrificing!
The front door was salvaged from an historic home on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Fully-refurbished, it sets the stage for what the Atwood House is all about. Open the door to the mudroom (although this term hardly does the room justice), look up, and you will find vaulted ceilings with reclaimed antique beams.
The first floor has a half bath and a galley kitchen with all new appliances and granite countertops. A gas stove, full-sized refrigerator and dishwasher are supplied, as well as standard cooking and service implements.
Also on the first floor, find a dining area and a living room area, which occupy opposite ends of the front of the house. French doors open onto the large, sunny deck where you will find appropriate outdoor furniture.
The living room has a working fireplace an ideal benefit for a crisp evening during any season.
The first master bedroom is off the living room at the back of the house this bedroom has a queen bed and a private bathroom with an oversized shower.
Upstairs is the second master suite the bedroom has vaulted ceilings, again with reclaimed antique wooden beams, a queen bed and a private balcony overlooking the waterfront. There is also a private bathroom with an oversized shower and a laundry closet on this floor.
Atwood House is located on the Saint George end of Patten Point Road, which starts in the South Thomaston/Spruce Head area.
This is a quiet, dead-end road perfect for walking and biking. A general store (and the post office) is within minutes of the house, as is a lobster wharf for buying lobsters. Within a 15-minute drive are the towns of Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde and Rockland.
Pets considered on a case-by-case basis.
