Aurora’s Cottage

Aurora, Spruce Head

Main house sleeps 6 in 2 bedrooms and 1 den; 2 full bathrooms (1 shower, 1 tub)
Cottage sleeps 3 in 1 bedroom and 1 sleeping alcove; 1 full bathroom with shower

Imagine... waking up at the edge of the earth. The ocean just feet away from your bedroom window, hitting the shore as the sun rises in the east.

Overlooking Seal Cove, the hundreds of islands of the Muscle Ridge Channel and Penobscot Bay, Aurora and Aurora's Cottage are located on 6 acres at the end of private land on Spruce Head Island.

The island is connected to the mainland via a granite causeway and makes access extremely easy by car. With 600 feet of deepwater shore frontage and a private deep water dock, this property is rare and exceptional.

Recently renovated, both the main house and the cottage are comfortably and tastefully appointed and offer endless views of the open ocean. A green lawn meanders down to the water's edge and the dock; a great place to fish from or launch a kayak or canoe.

The main house has all the comforts of home; a spacious living room with comfortable couches, a fireplace and a sitting area. There are built-in bookcases, satellite television and a DVD player. The living room is framed by two large picture windows overlooking the waterfront and the side yard.

The dedicated dining room, with vaulted ceilings, has seating for 6 and looks out over the water. French doors off this room connect the waterfront deck, complete with Adirondack chairs, to the interior of the house.

The kitchen, separated from the dining room by a breakfast bar, is fully-equipped with stainless steel appliances and a marble-top island. Everything needed to prepare a meal, of any sort, is supplied. A tiled mudroom/coatroom connects the main house to the two-car garage.

The serene master bedroom, with a king-sized bed, is located at the front of the house and overlooks the water; from the bed, you wouldn't know there was any land between you and the water! A picture window brings in lots of natural light and there is a private deck off this bedroom.

The guest room, with a queen bed, is quiet, sunny and comfortable with a Jack and Jill full bathroom connecting it to the den. The den also opens onto the side deck and to the mudroom. There is a pull-out couch in this room that can sleep two comfortably and privately.

There is a full sized washer and dryer for guest use, as well as wireless Internet accessibility.

Aurora's Cottage is just across the lawn from the main house. Within clear view of the house, the cottage is still private with its own deck and beautiful views.

The cottage is outfitted with knotty pine walls, exposed beams and beautiful painted floors. Virtually every room has views of the water and the open-concept floor plan creates ample space in this cozy cottage.

The bedroom has a full sized bed; an additional twin bed is in an alcove at the front of the house and overlooks the waterfront. A loft, accessible by a ladder, provides additional sleeping space and a quiet place to get away from it all.

A combination living room and dining room is completed with a working fireplace. There is plenty of comfortable seating and the dining room table can seat four.

There is also a complete kitchen in the cottage with an electric stove and a full sized refrigerator.

The cottage has a full bathroom with a shower and a washer and dryer for guest use.

The property is located on Seal Cove, where many lobster boats come home to tie up for the night. The house overlooks Rackliff Island and beyond, to various other islands dotting the Atlantic's horizon.

Located 10 miles from Rockland, Port Clyde, Owls Head, Thomaston, Tenants Harbor and 15 miles from Camden and Rockport, this property is private but allows for easy travel to area attractions.

Just a short walk down the road is the village area of the island; find a busy wharf where lobstermen sell their lobsters to buyers from here and away. You can stroll down and buy some for yourself!
