Gable Ends, Port Clyde
Sleeps 9 in 5 bedrooms; 1 full bathroom and 1/2 bathroom
Gable Ends sits 20' from the water's edge, owns 300' of water frontage and has a private beach for exploring. It is easy to launch a kayak from the front of the house at high and low tide and guests may also use the shared dock to fish and temporarily tie up a kayak or small skiff while walking to the house.
Not much has changed at Gable Ends since it was built, so staying at this rustic and charming cottage is an experience unto itself.
The house has five bedrooms, a screened sleeping porch and one and a half baths.
The master bedroom is on the first floor and overlooks the harbor. There is a queen bed and an original built-in window seat. The second downstairs bedroom has two twin beds.
Upstairs, the third bedroom has a twin bed, a half bath and views of the water. The fourth bedroom has a twin bed and overlooks the backyard.
The second master is also on this floor with a queen bed and views of the water. The sleeping porch has a twin trundle day bed.
The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, electric oven, microwave and all the essentials for cooking and dining.
The dining area has plenty of seating for meals or Scrabble games, although the covered porch, literally a step away from the rocks, offers the best place to eat.
The porch has oversized cushioned benches, good for reading, watching boats come in and out of the harbor or taking a nap.
The living room is adjacent to the dining area and has a massive stone fireplace and great views of the ocean. There is also a television in this room with cable television. Internet service is also provided.
A fenced-in courtyard at the back of the house offers a warm place to relax and a large grassy lawn surrounds Gable Ends.
The house is comfortably-furnished with new mattresses, lots of books and games, good reading lights, wonderful natural light and 100% cotton linens. There is a laundry closet on the first floor for guests to use.
In keeping true to the original design of the house, the walls are un-insulated and the only source of heat comes from the large stone fireplace in the living room.
Note: The shared dock may not be used for overnight storage of vessels of any size. There is a public landing nearby where this may be possible.
