The Meservey Cottages are the well-loved and cherished treasures of the Meservey family. The Meserveys are long-time summer residents of Tenants Harbor and "Little Clementine" and "Grey Cottage" have been part of the family for generations.
Located on the Barter's Point Road in Tenants Harbor Village, the three-bedroom, one-bath cottages are within walking distance to the waterfront and the center of Tenants Harbor Village.
The cottages also share a right of way to the water making it easy to launch a kayak or canoe.
Grey Cottage is a true no-frills coastal Maine getaway. The floor plan is open with a "wing" for the bedrooms and bath and an open space for the kitchen, dining room and living room.
Grey Cottage is roughly 900 square feet; vaulted ceilings make the cottage feel open and the floor plan is well thought out.
The cottage offers a front deck, a working fireplace, three bedrooms (one with a queen and two with double beds), a bathroom with a tub and a kitchen equipped with full-sized appliances.
It is fully furnished and guests are supplied with basic linens such as pillows and comforters. Guests will need to supply their own linens (towels, sheets, etc.) or, for those coming from far away, these linens can be supplied for an extra charge.
The kitchen is equipped with the essentials for cooking including a full size electric oven, refrigerator, coffee maker as well as basic dinnerware, glasses, flatware, etc.
A phone is provided for local calls and there is cable television. Broadband internet access is available as well.
Deck furniture is provided and the caretakers live nearby in the event they are needed by the cottage guests.
Grey Cottage has the benefit of ocean breezes and a close proximity to the water. There are views of the harbor from the front porch.
Access to the water is available from the public landing in Tenants Harbor or Port Clyde, a small village located at the end of the peninsula, about 4 miles from Tenants Harbor.
In the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde there are two general stores, several restaurants, a fish market, tennis courts, a public library, two post offices, a lighthouse museum, several small shops and hundreds of places to explore. Throughout the summer there are festivals and celebrations on the St. George Peninsula as well as in Rockland and Camden. Rockland and Thomaston are about 15 minutes from the cottages. Camden is a roughly 30 minutes from the cottages.
