Little Gem, Tenants Harbor
Sleeps 6 8 in two bedrooms; 1 full bathroom
New for 2011: Propane insert for fireplace to heat the cottage on cool nights and the cooler spring and fall months
Little Gem is just that a sweet treasure settled on the ledge of Seavey's Cove in the tall pines of States Point. Little Gem, the longtime family getaway of the Maxwell Family, is the perfect place to unplug and escape. A traditional 1930's summer camp, Little Gem is surrounded by water on three sides and over looks the waters surrounding Clark Island and the Long Cove area of Tenants Harbor.
Exceedingly peaceful, you will hear the water gently hit the shore, lobster boats far off in the distance, birds singing and not much else. The house sits just a few feet away from the water's edge and virtually every window offers a view. Off the main road, Little Gem is safe for kids and pets the large, well-maintained yard provides lots of space to roam.
The master bedroom has a queen bed and is located on the main floor with views of the water and the yard. Lots of windows provide a cooling breeze for warm nights. Upstairs is one large room with 3 queen beds and a crib, if needed. This room is beloved by kids and adults alike it also offers unobstructed views of the water. There is one bathroom in the house a full bath with an authentic claw-foot tub/shower combination.
The kitchen is well-equipped with all the basics full-sized electric stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, etc. A dining area with seating for six overlooks the deck and the water through 2 sliding glass doors. A living room shares this area as well, with a fireplace, plenty of comfortable seating, a TV with local reception, a CD player and DVD player.
The deck is waterside (almost literally!) with a picnic table for eating outside and a grill.
Little Gem is a kayaker's paradise it is very easy to put in from almost anywhere along the shore. Explore Seavey's Cove or venture further out into Tenants Harbor, Long Cove or around Clark Island. Explore the shore and woods on foot. Swimming from the rocks here is quite enjoyable the water is warmer thanks to the protected cove.
Little Gem is neat at as a pin and as welcoming for 2 as it is for more.
This is truly a classic Maine camp uninsulated, with a propane fireplace insert to heat the cottage during the cooler times of year and on cool summer nights!
