Midgard, Tenants Harbor
Sleeps 9 in 5 bedrooms; 3 full bathrooms (2 with showers)
Midgard is a quintessential waterfront summer home located in Tenants Harbor.
When you think about Maine, this classic retreat should come to mind.
Think pathways cut into acres of blueberry fields leading to the water's edge. Think clean breezes and crisp cotton sheets. Imagine twilight on the back porch after a day on the water, time to read on a sunny window seat, glass doorknobs, whitewashed bead board, bare feet, and long, lazy days.
This shingled, cottage-style 5-bedroom house was built in 1912. Midgard sits on 12 unspoiled acres, owns 326' of saltwater frontage and a deepwater dock.
The house is well thought out; the first floor offers a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and an original butler's pantry. Off the kitchen find the laundry room and one of two entrances onto the house's screened in porch.
Also, a "beach room" at the entrance of the house makes it easy to hang up wet towels and leave beach chairs behind after a day at water's edge; hop into the shower in the first floor bathroom to wash away sandy feet and saltwater.
The white, pristine dining room can seat 8 and built-in serving hutches, original to the house, create a unique setting.
The den has plenty of comfortable seating, including a window seat in a bow window overlooking the backyard and the waterfront. There is a flat screen television, cable, high-speed Internet, books and puzzles. The den can be closed off from the rest of the house for privacy and quiet.
The living room is relaxing with its own window seat complemented by throw pillows. Wonderful couches, chairs, and the house's original fireplace make this an inviting space at any time of the day. The living room also opens onto the screened-in porch.
There are five bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom is made sunny and bright with lots of windows and bead board on the walls. This room has a walk-in closet and private access to the second floor bathroom.
The second floor bathroom is made up of two rooms: the first has a deep tub overlooking the field, and the second offers a custom stand-up shower. The two bathrooms can be closed off from each other and each has its own toilet and sink.
A hallway, with painted white floors and hooked throw rugs, leads to the remaining bedrooms; all are bright and breezy with cottage-style furnishings.
The first and the second are located on the back of the house overlooking the field and the water. Each has two twin beds. The third at this end of the house offers a queen bed and the fourth has a single twin.
Midgard can sleep 9 in 5 comfortable bedrooms. There is also a penned in area for pets.
