Owls Nest, Owls Head

Sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms; 1 full bathroom and 1/2 bathroom

Owls Nest has been in the Creamer Family for generations — it is well-loved, embellished by family memories, neat and comfortable.

It feels like a throw-back to simpler times when vacation homes weren't about being exactly like your year-round home — your beach house was about being steps from the beach, a green lawn to play on, rocks to climb, comfortable beds and furnishings and windows that let in the sound of the waves and crickets at night.

The most spectacular part of Owls Nest is the fact that is sits right on Crescent Beach — one of the most spectacular beaches (not to mention views) in Owls Head and the Midcoast area. Just over the rocks, the beach stretches out with sand to sink toes into, calm water to swim in and rocks to find crabs and periwinkles under and on. You won't need to pack a lunch or a bag — if you forgot something, your house is right behind you.

The house sits on an unusually large parcel of grassy waterfront — a great place to cookout, play a game of badminton or just watch the sailboats pass by and the sun set. The front deck has plenty of comfortable seating and a large umbrella for hot days.

Owls Nest can sleep 8 comfortably in 4 bedrooms. On the first floor there is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a half bath and a cozy den with cable television and a DVD player.

The kitchen is well-equipped with full-sized appliances and the conveniences of a year-round kitchen.

A dining area off the kitchen has seating for 8 and another dining table for 4 sits at the picture window, providing spectacular views of the water and the islands beyond.

The living room has a large flat-screen television, cable, board games, books and direct access to the yard and the deck. The house is also equipped with Internet access for those who need to check in with the "real" world while on vacation.

Internet service is provided by Hughes Net which is a satellite-based service. Internet service may be limited as to the amount of data that can be downloaded and will not be suitable for large downloads such as movies. This service is best suited for web browsing and checking email.

Upstairs are four bedrooms — the front two rooms have unlimited views of the water and queen beds. The other two rooms each have two twins — the mattresses are comfortable and all rooms have darkening shades, as the sun comes up early and bright over Crescent Beach.

There is a large full bathroom on this floor as well.

The location of Owls Nest is ideal; Owls Head is a small, quiet community just minutes from Rockland, Thomaston and Camden. These larger towns offer museums, restaurants, shopping, festivals and endless cultural activities.

Owls Head, which extends to the immediate south of Rockland, is noted for its historic lighthouse with unparalleled views of the Penobscot Bay islands, its scenic working harbor, and the world-class Owls Head Transportation Museum. Just 5 minutes from the house is Birch Point Beach State Park, which has a sand beach framed by a secluded natural setting. The small village common, at the end of North Shore Drive, is the gateway to Owls Head Harbor and the Owls Head Light. Owls Head's unique location on the coast makes getting to Camden, Rockport, Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde and Bar Harbor very easy!
