Sunset Cottage, Tenants Harbor
Sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms and 1 den; 2 full bathrooms
Turkey Cove and Ridge Road...locations synonymous with peace, quiet and beautiful waterfront on the St. George Peninsula. And it just so happens that Sunset Cottage sits on both.
Located between the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde, the surroundings and the house itself are serene and relaxing.
Filled with sunlight filtered through tall trees, this house wants to be the place you retreat to after a long day at the beach, exploring authentic fishing villages and lighthouses or spending the day on the water.
Sunset Cottage is a traditional shingled cape with a covered front porch and a grassy lawn complete with a picnic table.
The house sits on a wooded acre, but also owns two acres on Turkey Cove. A short walk from the house, this waterfront is perfect for launching a kayak or canoe and the sun warms the water in this cove, making the water temperature warmer for swimming.
Sunset Cottage has wide pine floors and is neat as a pin. The front door opens to a living room with a slate hearth fireplace and a dining table that can seat 8 comfortably.
At the back of the house is the kitchen with natural shaker-style cabinets, a breakfast table, center island and a beautiful exposed brick wall from the center chimney.
The kitchen is large and well-equipped with everything a cook needs, including a full-size refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven. Off the kitchen is the laundry room with a washer and a dryer and a full bathroom.
The sunroom, with vaulted ceiling and skylights, is located off the kitchen through a set of French doors. This room is exceedingly comfortable with lots of seating, curtains to cut down on the sun, a ceiling fan and a door to the back yard. The sun room can also double as a bedroom as the couch folds out into a comfortable bed for two.
Upstairs is slightly reminiscent of a New York-style loft, thanks to the exposed brick wall from the large chimney. This never gets hot, only slightly warm to the touch.
There are three bedrooms on the second floor and a full bathroom.
The master bedroom overlooks the front yard and has built-in book shelves for the television, a walk-in closet and a full-sized bed.
The second bedroom over looks the front yard and has a very comfortable double bed.
The third bedroom has two twin beds and overlooks the back yard. All the bedrooms are very quiet when the doors are shut, making for a great night's sleep or a cat nap during the day.
The bathroom is tiled and overlooks the backyard as well; it features a lovingly-restored claw foot tub/shower combination. Bed linens are provided.
This house can sleep 8 as comfortably as two. Satellite television, books to read, games to play and Internet connections are also provided.
