Description

Tide River is a beloved summer home of a family who has been visiting the area for decades.
Cherished by generations, Tide River imbues classic summer house sensibilities, ever-changing ocean views and spacious and private outdoor space.

Located in Port Clyde, just 5 minutes from the village, Tide River feels like a vacation should – a sprawling green lawn, a comfortable, unfussy interior and a family friendly waterfront safe for swimming, beachcombing, kayaking and picnicking.

Tide River has a main house and a guest house nicknamed “The Addendum.” The main house has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, large living room, dining area, den, kitchen, mudroom and a fantastic 3 season screen room.

The bedrooms are on the second floor and are on opposite sides of the main house. The master has a queen bed facing the waterfront. The room is large and bright and most certainly has space for the addition of a portable crib of toddler bed if necessary.

The second bedroom has 2 twins and also faces the waterfront. This room is also good sized and could accommodate a portable crib or blow up mattress. Both bedrooms also have room darkening shades.

The bathroom is located in the hallway between the two bedrooms is a shower/tub combination (the shower is handle-type).

Downstairs, find the den – a cozy spot with a new flat screen television, puzzles, games and books. The den can be converted into a bedroom as it has a fold out couch and two doors that can be shut off to create privacy.

The living room is centered around a large fireplace with plenty of comfortable seating. The couch and love seat also convert to beds adding to the flexibility of the house.

The dining area overlooks the front lawn and the water and can accommodate a large crowd. It is located off the kitchen (which has a charming and rare swinging door). The kitchen is open, galley style and has some of the best views you will find from a kitchen sink anywhere!

There is plenty of space to cook and prepare a meal of any size. Appliances include a microwave, dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, electric stove top, wall oven, coffeemaker, etc.

The screen room is off the living room and faces the water and the lawn. Built in benches with cushions offer a fantastic place to read, relax or nap. There are sitting chairs as well in the screen room making this a perfect place to still feel out of doors even when there is a threat of rain.

The first floor also has a full shower bathroom.

The mudroom, off the kitchen, is a great place to leave sandy shoes and wet towels after a long day down by the water. There is a compact sized washer and dryer in the mudroom as well.

The Addendum, which is steps away from the main house, has its own deck overlooking the lawn and the waterfront, a shower bathroom and a king bed. 

Tide River sits on roughly 2 private and wooded acres and hundreds of feet of water frontage. This is a particularly interesting and varied making it ideal for a variety of activities.

A “spit” jutting out into the salty waters creates a calm cove directly in front of the house.

This protected area is often calmer and warmer than the waters on the other side of the spit making it ideal for swimming or novice kayakers. However, just a walk down the shore and you are on the open water and can watch sailboats glide by or lobster boats busy pulling traps. The shorefront offers tidal pools to explore, seaweed covered rocks to look for crabs (kids find this the most amazing task!) and warm, protected areas to nap or read.

Tide River is a great landing place for a larger family or for guests who may have family visiting and need flexible space. It is the backdrop for a Maine vacation that will truly be part of your family’s collective memory.

While some properties do have internet connection that is more “modern”, many properties are in locations that only allow for DSL or satellite connection which can be slower and at the mercy of weather, whole network connectivity and the like.
Please be aware SummerMaine cannot guarantee the speed or accessibility of the internet at any of our properties during your stay.
Outages of any type are not the basis for a refund. We cannot guarantee repair times or repair person availability.
With that said, if you have certain needs regarding the internet, please let us know and we will indicate the properties providing the service that best meets your needs.

Household Consumables and items: The following items are typically found at the properties to get you started.
 
-Dishwasher, liquid soap for sink dish washing, washing machine detergent.
- New Kitchen sponge per guest turnover.
- All purpose counter cleaner
- All purpose bathroom cleaner
- Hand soap for Kitchen & bathroom
- Bathroom tissue/toilet paper 2 rolls per bathroom per guest turnover.
- Paper towels for kitchen 1 starter roll
- A few trash bags
- Coffee filters
- Propane or Charcoal for Grill. Grill tools- scraper/steel brush, spatula, tongs, fork. Oven Mitt. 
 
You should plan to bring with you or purchase shortly after arrival:
- Groceries, coffee, condiments
-Some properties will have dry spices and other items. We are not able to inventory these things…if you will want to have something special to cook with we suggest bringing it with you.
-Additional paper towels, toilet paper, paper/plastic ware etc.
 -Laundry detergent
-Shampoos, body soaps and other personal hygiene products.
-Beach gear- beach towels, chairs, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.
-Approved pets will need a leash.
 
-Baby equipment (you can always rent equipment from our friends at Mid-Coast Family Rentals)

Clothing: The weather can change dramatically from one day to the next. You will want to dress for the season. It is best to be prepared. Even in the warmest days of summer the nights can get cool. In the fall it is always a good idea to have a sweatshirt or jacket with you.

Notes

IN ADDITION TO THE RENTAL AMOUNT the following fees and tax apply
A $200 CLEANING FEE, DOG FEE (if applicable),
9% TAX on Rent, Dog Fees and Cleaning Fees,
A Processing Fee of 6% of the rental amount.
*ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
*A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF 1/2 OF THE RENTAL AMOUNT IS DUE UPON RESERVATION.
 
Cleaning requirements before check out: Please leave all used towels in the tub. Please remove all items from the refrigerator and wash dishes. All furniture and furnishing MUST be returned to the original location they were in upon check in. Please bag all trash and leave in receptacle provided.
 
Check in and out times: Check in is 4:00 PM and Check out is 10:00 AM. Early check in/out is not allowed in the high season. Guests who have not vacated by 10:00 AM will be charged $25.00 every 15 minutes after 10:00 AM.
