Vannah Lane, Port Clyde

Sleeps 6–7 in 2 bedrooms, 1 den, 1 living room; 2 full bathrooms

Vannah Lane is a delightful house located on coveted Horse Point Road in Port Clyde.

Nestled in the tall pines just past 8 Bells, the famed Andrew Wyeth summer home, Vannah Lane sits on 3 private acres and 350 feet of water frontage.

Vannah Lane provides the best Port Clyde has to offer — peace and quiet with a walkable distance to the village for morning coffee, catching the ferry to Monhegan or attending an art studio opening, followed by dinner, waterside.

The classic clapboard cape is situated on a knoll, surrounded by a well-manicured lawn, and overlooking Deep Cove and Howard's Head.

A path, meandering through trees and mossy boulders, takes you to a small beach — perfect for laying out a blanket and spending the day searching for sea glass, watching for wildlife, reading or launching a kayak or canoe. When the tide is low, explore the rocks and search for crabs under the seaweed.

This is an open-concept house with 2 bedrooms, a great room, dining area and a finished loft area above the first floor.

The front door opens onto an alcove, with a large coat closet, and the dining area. The dining room looks out onto the deck, the lawn and the water beyond the trees. The dining room table can easily seat 6 people and is open to the great room and the kitchen.

French doors open onto the deck — the deck has a gas grill and seating for those who would like to eat outdoors.

The kitchen is modern with plenty of counter space and modern appliances including a full-sized stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.

The vaulted-ceiling great room is the heart of the house — beautiful, large windows let in natural light throughout the day. Comfortable seating is situated throughout the room — there is a fireplace*, a stereo system and a television with satellite reception. There is also a piano for guests who may know how to play. A wireless router allows for laptop use anywhere in the house or on the deck.

The couch in the living room is also a queen sleeper allowing for additional sleeping space.

Off the dining area find the master bedroom — this room is very private with a private bathroom (shower) and views of the woods and the water beyond. This bedroom has a new queen bed.

Upstairs, find the second bedroom with a double bed. A full bath is located between this bedroom and the loft area.

The loft area, open to the rooms below, offers a twin bed and a work area for guests who need to check in with reality during their visit.

The house is extremely well constructed — clean, airy and comfortable. There is a washer and dryer available for guest use as well.

*Insurance regulations prohibit guest use of the fireplace.
